Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Director Protective Services Operations will assist in the development and implementation of standardized Protective Services training, policies and procedures for the Group based on the needs of the BSMH facilities and other strategic initiatives with a focus on providing subject mater expertise,incident response management, workplace violence prevention and personal safety and security, for the respective group wide. The Group Director of Protective Services Operations will ensure all regulatory standards are being met and being reviewed annually.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implements Strategic Initiatives at the direction of the System Director of Protective Services across the group. Completes annual objectives and mitigation initiatives for Protective Services across the ministry.

  • Facilitates procedures to ensure the mission is embedded into the Protective Services function across the enterprise, regardless of employed or contracted officers.

  • Participates in monthly calls and other work flows aimed at standardizing policies and approaches to the protective services function across the enterprise.

  • Evaluates data related to incidents where protective services is involved and recommends mitigation to prevent future occurrence across the group.

  • Evaluates use of force incidents across the group. Assists market and facility Protective Service leaders in conducting security risk assessments and providing recommendations to include monitoring and corrective action reporting.

  • Identifies, collects and evaluates security analytics to make data driven decisions.

  • Oversees the safety and security aspects of incident response planning, as well as assisting in the investigations of security incidents across the system in collaboration with the appropriate operational functions and the legal team.

  • Works with outside consultants as appropriate for necessary independent security audits.

  • Supports System Director in Merger and Acquisitions, Divestiture and Closure activities

  • Works with market and facility leaders across the Ministry to identify and meet their needs. Maintains collaborative relationships within the Risk and Insurance shared service function.Remains open to new ideas and supportive of the other functions.

  • Works effectively with executives and management committed to organizational goals; fosters collaboration among team members and teams internally and externally enterprise-wide.

Licensing/Certification

  • National Rifle Association (NRA) or Law Enforcement Certified concealed carry course (required)
  • Healthcare Safety and Emergency Management Professional certification (required)
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) (preferred)

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Security or related field (required)
  • Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Security or related field (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Protective Services, Security or Policing Related Experience with a focus on program development (required)
  • 3 years experience in a management role in a healthcare security environment (required)

Training

  • Must successfully complete an approved course of instruction conducted by a qualified firearms instructor and remain proficient of all skills associated with carrying a concealed firearm
