Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care of critically ill patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves in the Resource Nurse role when oriented and directed. Supports the hospital mission, the vision of the nursing department and the philosophy for excellence. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. All other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing

Experience:  1 year Medical/Surgical unit experience preferred. At least 1-year experience in an Emergency Care/Critical Care Unit preferred.  Proficient oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position.

Licenses/Certificates:

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a compact state nursing  license. BLS & ACLS required before the end of the probationary period. Successful completion of a Critical Care Course within 1 year of employment is preferred.  PALS and TNCC Preferred.
