Position Summary

Administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures, and the skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department. Possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient's status.

Essential Functions

Utilizes the nursing process in accordance with the scope of practice for the licensed  practical nurse and provides professional nursing care according to 

established practices and procedures. Maintains a positive working relationship with patients, families, peers, students, and other medical personnel. 

Demonstrates an ability to organize and achieve quality performance. Demonstrates an on-going awareness of and participation in the Improving Organizational 

Performance (IOP) program.  Assumes responsibility for continuing education through formal/ informal education programs and/or workshops or conferences. 

Department Specific Functions

Complies with and is knowledgeable of hospital and department safety procedures and policies. Contributes to care of environment by maintaining workspace, 

and assisting with light housekeeping duties as needed. Is knowledgeable and participates in the hospitals performance improvement program. Utilizes computer

system for information and to complete tasks. Maintains customer rights. Interacts with customers in a way that exemplifies the hospitals core values and

mission statement. Attends annual in-service department meetings and other training sessions relative to job.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. 

Licensure:Current LPN license in KY and eligible for IL. 

Certification(s):BLS certification required

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have DL and current automobile insurance. Knowledge of HC/HP communication systems, equipment appropriate for patient care for spec. clinical dept,.
