Summary of Primary Function

The primary responsibility of this position is to be the department head for St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Provides oversight of managing day to day operations of the dept to include oversight of the powerhouse lead, construction team lead and the facilities and maintenance lead.  Will oversee the Life Safety aspect of the facility. Position will report to the VP; Regional Development and Operations but will have a relationship with all other department heads at St. Vincent.

Essential Job Functions

  • In conjunction with the home office, develop and implement the strategic expenditure of capital.

  • Develop and implement and efficient process to maintain vital hospital related equipment.

  • Ensure the efficient management of the department’s work order process in an effort to address ongoing maintenance related issues.

  • Review and provide input on the current state of the facilities including any proposed  drawings, documents, and specifications with hospital leadership.

  • Review and provide input of the building site, systems, exterior, interior design and structure.

  • Review of facility operations for cause and effect in all applications.

  • Clearly define Bon Secours Mercy Health System goals to such issues as public and site safety, noise, security, etc., and document these requirements for use by hospital leadership.

  • Responsible for oversight and administration of all areas of planning of the physical structure to house various new programs or alternations to existing facilities.

  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date “as-built” drawings of all projects at all facilities to include equipment submittals.

Required Minimum Education:

4 year/ Bachelors Degree


Construction Management or related area.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

7-10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare related construction projects or commercial equivalent

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Previous work experience using a calculator, personal computer and computer programs including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Project, Timberline Estimating, Primavera and other Construction Management Software, AutoCAD Lite and Internet usage. Working knowledge of all construction assemblies, procedures of in-place products, systems, components required of all divisions, and all crafts
