This position is responsible for developing and promoting a variety of activities that include internal and ethnic backgrounds of the residents. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.

50%Develops, implements and coordinates resident centered recreational programs for residents and staff to interact on a social basis, including community intergenerational programs. Plans and manages monthly calendars. Provides transportation for residents on field trips. Activities will meet current federal, state, local, Medicaid waiver and assisted living regulations to assure that the highest degree of resident stimulation can be provided. Promotes positive public relations through contacting the media about special events. Generates sympathy, holiday, birthday and thank-you communications. Assists in mealtime activities by escorting the residents to the dining room.
5%Manages the activity program budget. Provides care and maintenance of activity supplies and equipment.
5%Assists in developing facility marketing plan by providing tours, outside marketing events and community fund raising events.
35%Coordinates and supervises the volunteer program, friends and family programs, beauty shop, resident shopping and outings. Works with the Manager of Activities and the Coordinator Spiritual Care on placement of volunteers, recognition of volunteers during National Volunteer Week and sending of birthday cards to volunteers. Completes orientation, training and evaluations of volunteers.
5%Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):
Required:First Aide and CPR, valid driver's license (must be able to be covered by Mercy Health insurance)
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 1-2 years of activity experience working with dementia and assisted living residents or related experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Possess a high degree of interpersonal relation's skills and capability of relating to a variety of people and personalities. Considerable initiative, judgement, and leadership skills.
