“For nearly three decades, the Care-A-Van has served as a medical home for uninsured patients through partnerships with local churches and nonprofit organizations and we continuously strive to earn and maintain the trust of our patients by providing consistent, quality and compassionate health care,” says Paula Young, M.D., Medical Director of Community Health Access for Bon Secours Richmond and Bon Secours Richmond Community Hospital.
Currently, 93% of Care-A-Van patients speak English as a second language, with the majority speaking fluent Spanish. As a ministry, a part of our mission is to improve the health and well-being of all our communities including racial and ethnic minority populations.

At Bon Secours, each member of the clinical team is important — providers, nurses, care coordinators, clinical pharmacists, social workers and more! We're a ministry that innovates and we currently have 59 clinical cancer trials open.

The Bon Secours Community Health Clinic is an appointment-only clinic for uninsured and underinsured patients.
Equipped with eight exam rooms, an on-site lab, collaborative office space and a behavioral wellness room, the Community Health Clinic expands our ability to promote well-being, provide care and make connections to sustainable resources.
As a fixed location and an extension of the Bon Secours Care-A-Van, adults and children can always find access to:
- Primary and pediatric care
- Chronic disease management
- Women’s health services
- Behavioral health services
- Vaccines and immunizations
The guest house offers 16 private guest rooms with Wi-Fi, kitchen, living room, reflection room, playroom, laundry facilities and beautiful landscaped grounds that will effectively promote health and wholeness in an environment that feels like home.
Hope and hospitality were shared with more than 1,400 guests in 2022. and the guest house welcomed it's 10,000th guest in October.

Our mission is to positively impact health outcomes for the East End community by working together in harmony with the community to achieve these goals.
The team is made up of specially trained forensic nurses and victim advocates that are available 24/7 at all Bon Secours Richmond hospitals and freestanding emergency departments. When responding to a call, a forensic nurse and victim advocate respond in tandem to victims of violence.
The work of these two roles is complementary. Together, they offer comprehensive care to victims, including specialized medical attention, evidence collection, emotional support, advocacy support, hospital accompaniment, follow-up phone calls and referrals for community resources.
