At the direction of the System Director of Infection Prevention, assists in the development and implementing of infection prevention strategies, policies and practices supporting integration and standardization. Serves as subject matter expert for infection prevention. Leads, coaches and mentor’s infection prevention team(s).
Essential Job Functions
Supports the operation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program to ensure patient and personnel safety, in alignment with system goals, and compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and work groups to design, implement, evaluate evidence-based infection prevention-related improvement projectsand evaluate evidenced based infection prevention related improvement projects
Supports the Infection Prevention and Control Program initiatives through policy/procedure development.
Supports infection prevention educational priorities and design of infection prevention educational offerings for delivery in formats for effective learning, utilizing evidenced based best practice
Delivers educational offerings or assists others in that delivery, ensuring effective learning aligned with evidenced based practice
Analyze, coordinate, and evaluate infection prevention and control practices within inpatient and outpatient settings
Provides leadership and management of key infection and control initiatives to reduce preventable infections applying epidemiologic principles and statistical methods.
Provides oversight for the development and review of the annual infection control plans and surveillance indicators as directed.
Maintains clear documentation of project related work, including progress reports

Education Qualifications -
Required Minimum Education:
Nursing or healthcare related field
Nursing or other health related field
Licensing/ Certification - If registration, certification or licensure is required, include the name of the accrediting or licensing body.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC), awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC), within 1 year
Certification in Infection Control (CIC), awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC). Completion of advanced education in Infection Prevention;
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
4 years in Infection Prevention
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Demonstrated ability/experience to lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams; Demonstrated experience in performance improvement.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
Knowledge of improvement science.
