The Unit Secretary/ Monitor Tech is responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms for telemetry patients. The monitor watcher is responsible for coordinating communications related to telemetry changes. Unit Secretary/Monitor Watcher may need to perform some receptionist activities, and may be accountable for routine clerical activities within the department. Interactions between the Unit Secretary/Monitor Watcher and other members of the healthcare team is key to ensuring a safe, patient centered work environment. Unit Secretary/Monitor Watcher will answer phone calls and questions from medical staff and co-workers. Unit Secretary/Monitor Watcher will provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors, patients/families, employees and other departments as necessary.

EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED AND/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

·         High School Graduate or GED required.

·         Ability to successfully complete monitor course GCOI

·         Computer experience preferred

·         Ability to operate equipment on unit’s orientation checklist

·         Recent health care experience preferred

Hours: Part-Time, 24 hours weekly
