The operations director is responsible for the overall supervision, clinical, operational, and financial management of the radiology, cardiovascular, and pulmonary departments in order to achieve quality, financial, and customer service objectives of the hospital.The Operations Director sets strategic initiatives for cardiovascular and radiology services, identifies opportunities for service improvements, provides leadership for staff and physicians in fulfillment of goals, and monitors financial/clinical performance. In addition, the Director serves as a liaison with physicians, Executive/Senior staff, and external parties on service line issues.

  • Leads the development of departmental strategic and operational goals and objectives.Assesses departmental performance in relation to the established goals and objectives.Benchmarks performance against appropriate regional and national measures.

  • Plans, organizes, and directs all departmental activities in accordance with established standards of patient care

  • Acts as a resource person to medical staff and department personnel regarding departmental issues.

  • Identifies risk management/quality improvement opportunities and plans appropriate action

  • Provides overall supervision of departmental personnel and evaluates personnel performance. This includes hiring, firing, communication to staff, and completion of or oversight in the completion of staff performance evaluations.

  • Maintains appropriate communication among physicians regarding activities (e.g. marketing, contracting, screenings, quality,etc.) as well as the overall cardiac service line performance. Monitors physician productivity, profitability, and quality.

  • Works closely with the management of radiology, cardio-pulmonary rehab, wellness and screening services, cardiac cath, EP, and invasive vascularlabs, non-invasive cardiology and vascular diagnostic testing, vascular surgery, cardiac and vascular nursing units, andoff campus cardiology/facility services to assure the adequacy of resources and systems to support the strategic plan.

  • Assisting the CNO/VP in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs

  • Maintains compliance of radiation standards for ODH/ JCAHO requirements; working with RSO and physicist group. This position will be the designated IRRP (Individual Responsible for Radiation Protection) for Mercy Health- Lorain.


Required Minimum Education:


Specialty/Major:Allied Health, Radiologic Technology

Preferred Education:



LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated)

Required: Ohio license in radiologic technology or related field.



Minimum Years and Type of Experience:Minimum of 3-5 year experience progressive experience in healthcare management, including management of individuals and team.Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Knowledge of healthcare and human resources management. Ability to analyze detailed reports, statistical data and financial reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of health care regulatory standards and agencies including JCAHO, EMTALA, NCDR and State Department of health and environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to make accurate decisions in a changing environment with demands for precise attention to detail.
