Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Process Automation Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, and support of the ministry’s automated managed file transfers, intelligent automations as well as the curation of best practices and development of standards to support of these automations.  The successful Process Automation Engineer II utilizes their significant experience and combines a good grasp of the technical skill set with the ability to quickly understand business processes in terms of inputs, outputs and decision points.  The Process Automation Engineer II utilizes industry best practices and works across teams to promote and ensure secure and efficient file transfer capability and deliver intelligent and effective robotic processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Designs, develops, documents and supports automated managed file transfer and robotic process automations across the BSMH ministry.

  • Curates best practices and develops standards for the implementation and support of automated processes.  Performs code reviews with team members to ensure alignment to standards and best practices.

  • Ensures protection and security of all data transfers, both internal and external to BSMH.

  • Utilizes automation platforms to improve efficiency of business and clinical workflows through the use of web services, file exchange, UI interaction, and other technologies.

  • Utilizes working knowledge of continuous improvement methods to expand and improve upon automations.

  • Uses analytical and problem-solving skills to design automations that are efficient and resilient to failure.

  • Uses BSMH’s change management policies and procedures to properly promote automations to the production environment and to understand where changes to other applications and systems could impact existing automations.

  • Understands and operates within the agile project management and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Maintains a relationship with I&T leaders and staff, facilitating sharing and implementation of lessons learned and best practices across BSMH.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff to exchange information, ideas and answer inquiries.

  • May require after hours support.

  • Participates in departmental activities relating to employee engagement.

Licensing/Certification

UiPath RPA Associate or UiPath RPA Advanced Developer (required)

Education

Bachelors, Health Sciences/Engineering/Computer Sciences/Information Systems (required)

Work Experience

5+ years experience in process automation (required)

Previous technical or IT experience in healthcare (preferred)

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

General office environment.

Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
