The Director of Community and Spiritual Engagement is responsible for enhancing the spiritual life of the College community by providing leadership and opportunities for faith engagement and understanding. This position also provides leadership in the development and implementation of co-curricular service-learning/community-based learning opportunities, volunteer service, community partner capacity building and advocacy.

Essential job functions include: coordinate and plan spiritual opportunities for the College community, such as Masses, prayer services, and other mission-based events; prepare and lead prayers for College events, as needed; collaborate with college administration and students to develop, implement, coordinate, and assess co-curricular community engagement opportunities across campus; collaborate with academic administration in the development, implementation, and assessment of service learning embedded in the curriculum; coordinate and lead the Hoffman Ambassador Program; serve on various College committees, including the Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council and the HLC Steering Committee; chair the College Mission Committee; assist with administering the Mercy College Food Pantry and the Mercy College Student Emergency Fund; establish and strengthen community partnerships with 501c3 service agencies in surrounding communities; serve as spiritual director for students, staff, and faculty helping to deepen their spiritual lives; organize and lead the Service Immersion Trip Program and exploring opportunities for expanding the program; and, assist with contributing content and data for grants associated with community and/or spiritual engagement, as needed.                                                                                                                                   

Education:  Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred.  Fields of study may include, but are not limited to: religious studies, theology, peace studies, social justice, and student affairs/higher education.
